Lufthansa hat nun seine Pläne für den neuen Berliner Hauptstadtflughafen am Standort des bisherigen Flughafens Berlin Schönefeld bekannt gegeben. Ab Sommer 2012 soll das Flugangebot der Lufthansa ab Berlin von derzeit acht auf 38 Verbindungen erweitert werden.
„Die Eröffnung des neuen Hauptstadt-Flughafens Berlin-Brandenburg ‚Willy Brandt' im Juni kommenden Jahres schafft neue Wachstumsdynamik und Marktchancen“, so Carsten Spohr, Vorstand Lufthansa Passage, in Berlin. „Wir setzen auf Berlin und sind entschlossen, am künftigen Kapazitätswachstum am Flughafen BER überproportional zu partizipieren.“
Der ab dem 3. Juni 2012 geltende neue Flugplan sieht ab Berlin insgesamt 38 Nonstop-Verbindungen der Lufthansa vor. Die europäischen Ziele werden ab 49 Euro angeboten. Mit diesen billigen Flügen ab Berlin z.B. nach Bologna, Valencia, Birmingham, Istanbul und andere europäische Städte möchte Lufthansa den Billigfluglinien Konkurrenz machen.
Mit einer groß angelegten Werbekampagne möchte Lufthansa in den nächsten Monaten die Berliner und Brandenburger für die neuen Destinationen gewinnen. Gleichzeitig ist ein Werbeauftritt in den europäischen Zielmärkten geplant, um Gästen aus ganz Europa Berlin als angesagte Metropole schmackhaft zu machen.
Die nächste A380 wird Lufthansa übrigens ganz passend „Berlin“ taufen.
